“I am a struggling single twenty-something. Here's hoping two of those things change.”

You probably should aim for all three, otherwise you will end up with one of the following scenario’s

    A single successful thirty something

Unsuccessful thirty something in a relationship

    Or

Successful, had a great relationship but didn’t make it out of your twenties….

As for the year list some great choices but a bit bemused by some of them – you can probably put it down to my British ignorance of US Holidays

Pride (In the name of love) – unless that is for the gay pride march
    I Will Remember You
The Flag – Love BNL (yes they have made it over this side of the pond)
She works hard for the money
    They All Laughed
Thank You for being a friend
    River

which leads to a whole section missing from your list…….. The Seasons – please feel free to select any of the following or indeed (as it is your list) feel free to select your own

4 seasons in one day – Crowded House
Walk out to winter – Aztec Camera
Hazy shades of winter – Simon & Garfunkel
A long winter – Boo Hewerdine
Winter winds – Mumford & Sons
Spring is a condition – !Forward, Russia!
    Summertime – BNL
Rain in the summertime – The Alarm
The ghost of summer walking – Boo Hewerdine
    Autumn – Bombay Bicycle Club
    Autumn almanac – The Kinks

Sorry it was very rude of me to interrupt your list – feel free to carry on…

Ha, that's a good idea with the season playlist! Maybe I'll make my own.

Most of the ones you were confused about are American holidays:

Pride (In the name of love): Martin Luther King Day (there's a verse in that song about MLK)
I Will Remember You: Memorial Day
The Flag: Flag Day (not a terribly popular holiday)
She works hard for the money: Labor Day
They All Laughed: Columbus Day (the song mentions Christopher Columbus)
Thank You for being a friend: Thanksgiving
River: Christmas (starts off “It's coming on Christmas.” I didn't want a Christmas song for this, just a song that mentions Christmas)
